Gohn Complex 23

from Mandala Sunrise by Martin Mensik

/

about

Gregorian chanting and orchestral strings lead into gamelan bells swirling around in a ethereal mist. The melodies build towards drum and bass entry. This pulsing verse continues and the melody is reinforced by a solo trumpet with much ambient reverb. This leads into a very uplifting chorus. The mid section is of eastern influence with crossing rhythmic/lead instruments and urgent riffs. The mid section breaks down into simplified drums, gamelan bells and choir. Suddenly the drums build into a new more emotional version of the chorus. The trumpet solos over multilayerd melodies and rhythms. The melodic layers subside and slowly drop away leaving a single string chord that ends the piece.
